About This PhotoThe Story Behind
This photo was taken during my trip to England and features one of the most famous landmarks in the world, Big Ben. It's officially known as the Elizabeth Tower and sits at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. I captured this shot with my Canon EOS 7D, standing on the bridge, which gave me a great vantage point. The blue sky and the passing boats on the River Thames make the scene feel lively. What I love about this view is how the historic architecture of the parliament building contrasts with the modern city skyline in the background.
The Tower was completed in 1859 and still stands as a symbol of London. It's fascinating that the clock is so accurate, considering its age. During my time in London, I learned that the chimes of Big Ben are broadcast by the BBC, which is such a cool piece of trivia.
In this image, you can also see the river stretching out with boats moving up and down, reminding me of how much activity flows through this city. The Thames has been a key part of London for centuries, which adds another layer of history to the picture. I'm really glad I had the chance to capture this perspective and share a glimpse of London that balances historical charm with everyday life.
