About This PhotoThe Story Behind

This photo captures the breathtaking interior of the Pantheon in Rome, a testament to ancient Roman architectural brilliance. The large oculus at the top allows a magnificent beam of light to cascade down, creating an awe-inspiring, spiritual atmosphere inside. I was drawn to the way the sunlight highlighted the intricate details of the coffered dome and the ornate columns below. The Pantheon, originally built as a temple for Roman gods, has stood the test of time since its completion by Emperor Hadrian around 126 AD. I stood there mesmerized, my camera capturing the interplay of light and shadows that define the artistic charm of this ancient structure. The symmetry and proportion in the design are striking, with the dome being a perfect hemisphere resting on the circular walls that are exactly as wide as the dome is high. This architectural wonder, now serving as a church, continues to be a marvel with its history and engineering brilliance. Each photograph I took aimed to preserve the feeling of admiration I experienced standing in this iconic monument.
