About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I captured this image of the Scott Monument during my trip to Edinburgh. This Gothic structure is one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Standing on Princes Street, it's dedicated to Sir Walter Scott, a renowned Scottish author. I used my Canon EOS 7D, trying to highlight the monument's intricate designs against the clear blue sky. The Scott Monument is nearly 200 feet tall, making it one of the largest monuments to a writer in the world. It’s a fascinating piece of architecture, and I loved how it seemed to rise out of the surrounding greenery. Did you know you can climb the 287 steps to the top for a great view of the city? I found the play of light and shadow across the monument particularly striking, and the colors from the surrounding garden add a nice touch. Edinburgh is a city rich in history, and moments like these really bring that sense alive for me.
