About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this photo during my visit to Kyiv, Ukraine. It's the Kyiv Funicular, an iconic piece of public transport in the city. It's a really cool way to travel between the historic Uppertown and the more modern Podil area. The funicular has been around since 1905 and is right by the Dnipro River, giving some fantastic views as you travel up or down. In this shot, I used my Canon EOS 7D with a wide-angle EF-S10-22mm lens to capture the arched ceiling and the steps leading right to the funicular. The architecture is something that immediately caught my eye. The lighting inside is pretty distinctive too, with those old-fashioned lamps lined up along the walls. It adds a kind of vintage feel to the whole scene. I love how the funicular itself is captured midway, emphasizing its role in the daily lives of locals. If you're ever in Kyiv, I’d recommend taking a ride. It’s not just about getting from point A to point B; it's a piece of history and a unique experience.
