About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I captured this stunning view from Le Havre during the early evening when the sky was painted with shades of blue and violet. In the center of the composition stands the iconic St. Joseph Church, its illuminated spire piercing through the skyline with authority and grace. This remarkable piece of architecture, designed by Auguste Perret, is renowned as a symbol of urban renewal after World War II. The church’s tower, reaching 107 meters, serves not only as a beacon of hope but also as a significant landmark visible from afar. The city stretches below, its buildings gradually lighting up as day transitions into night, creating a warm juxtaposition against the cool tones of the sky. The soft streetlights add a comforting ambiance, highlighting the intricate details of the city's layout. I stood here, admiring how the twilight transformed the scene, offering a perfect balance between natural and artificial light which enhanced the overall harmony of the cityscape.
