About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this photo of Matthias Church during my trip to Budapest. It was a calm evening, and the way the church lights illuminated the gothic architecture against the deep blue sky caught my eye. This isn't just any church; it's got a unique history. Built in the 13th century, it’s been a part of many significant events in Hungary's past, including coronations of kings. The night gave a peaceful vibe to this usually busy spot.
Walking around the area was quite relaxing. I used my Canon EOS 7D with a wide-angle lens, which helped capture the full view of the church and the surrounding Fisherman's Bastion. The architecture here is fascinating; the details on the roof tiles are colorful and intricate, something you'd normally miss if you're just walking by during the day.
The Fisherman’s Bastion, seen on the left, offers some of the best views of Budapest. It’s a perfect spot for capturing the beauty of the city, especially at night when everything is lit up. If you’re ever in Budapest, a stroll here in the evening should definitely be on your list. It’s quiet, atmospheric, and gives you a great sense of the city's history and charm. Plus, the view of the Danube from here is breathtaking.
