About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this picture of the iconic Munttoren while I was wandering around Amsterdam. It's one of those spots that perfectly captures the charm of the city. Situated at the busy intersection of the Singel canal and the bustling streets, this tower originally was part of Amsterdam's medieval city wall. Now, it stands as a historical landmark, giving a glimpse into the past. The day I shot this, the sky was clear and there was a gentle breeze, making it perfect for photography. I used my Canon EOS 7D to capture this scene. This camera is great for these kinds of cityscapes because it really brings out the detail on days with good light. You can see the blend of old and new architecture around the tower, which is quite common throughout Amsterdam. There's always something happening around here, whether it's locals going about their day or tourists exploring. Not far from this spot, you can find loads of cafes and shops, making it a lively part of the city to spend the afternoon. If you ever get the chance to visit, taking a leisurely walk along the canals provides endless photographic opportunities.
