About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I captured this shot one evening in Amsterdam, right in front of the iconic Rijksmuseum. It was one of those serene nights in the city where the hustle has slowed, and the soft glow of streetlights sets a peaceful scene. I used my Canon EOS 7D with an EF-S17-55mm lens to grab this moment. The wide angle helped me get a good perspective of the museum and the cyclists waiting at the red light, which is pretty common around here. The Rijksmuseum is not just famous for its art; it's a beautiful piece of architecture on its own, especially when it’s lit up at night. You can see the intricate details in the brickwork and the decorative windows that really shine under the evening lights. Fun fact: the museum is home to more than 8,000 pieces of art, including works by Rembrandt and Vermeer. I love how the cyclists add a touch of everyday life to the scene, a usual sight since biking is a big part of the local culture. Whenever I see this photo, it reminds me of why Amsterdam is such a charming city with its perfect mix of history, art, and modern life.
