About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this photo of the Thames from Southbank during a sunny day in London. It's one of my favorite spots to unwind and capture the city's vibe. You can see some of London's iconic skyscrapers in the distance, like The Gherkin, which always catches my eye with its unique shape. As I stood there with my Canon EOS 7D, I loved how the light hit the water and the clouds moved across the sky. It's a popular area for tourists and locals alike, with the river bustling with activity. The HMS Belfast is moored nearby, a historic ship that's a part of London's rich naval history. Walking along Southbank, you're always in the presence of both the modern and the historic elements of the city, which is something I wanted to capture in this shot. From here, the blend of architecture, combined with the energy of the river, always makes for a perfect scene. No matter how many times I visit, there's always something new to see or a different light to photograph. Each visit gives me a fresh take on this dynamic city.
