Tokyo Skyline from Shibuya Sky

About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this photo from Shibuya Sky, which gives you a fantastic vantage point over Tokyo. You need a ticket to get up there, and it's best to grab one early using the Klook app because they sell out fast, sometimes a week or two in advance. From up here, you can spot Tokyo Tower standing boldly among the sea of buildings. It's one of the icons that really sticks out and catches your eye. The view is a mix of old meets new, with modern skyscrapers dotted around more traditional structures. I used my FUJIFILM X-T5 with a 16-80mm lens for this shot. It's not about the gear, but the wide-angle lens really helped capture the width of Tokyo's sprawling skyline. Despite being such a bustling city, from this height, you get a sense of calm, looking at the intricate grid of streets below. It's moments like this that remind me why I love urban photography—there’s so much life in these still scenes.
