About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this shot at San Marco Square in Venice during a trip there. The square is such an iconic spot, full of history and life. It's fascinating to imagine how many feet have walked these stones over the centuries. In this photo, you can see the Basilica di San Marco in the background. It's one of those places that truly feels like stepping back in time. The architecture is a blend of east and west, with its domes and mosaics catching your eye immediately.
When I was there, the weather was a bit unpredictable. You can tell from the wet pavement and the people carrying umbrellas. I actually loved how the rain added a mirror-like reflection to the scene. It’s amazing how a little rain can sometimes make a place look even more magical.
I used my SONY DSC-R1 to capture this moment. It handled the light really well, especially with the overcast sky. The camera let me capture the details in the building's facade, which are incredibly intricate. It's not every day you get to see such craftsmanship close up.
San Marco is always buzzing with tourists, but there's something calming about it after a rain shower. It's like the square takes a deep breath, bringing an unexpected moment of calm in such a busy place. Venice is full of these surprises, and that’s why I love coming here.
