About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this photo at the iconic 'I Amsterdam' sign located by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It's one of those spots that every visitor recognizes instantly, and it's practically a must-see when you visit the city. The location is always buzzing with people during the day, but I shot this at night to capture the calm and quiet beauty of the place. The museum in the background lights up wonderfully after dark, giving the whole scene a magical vibe.

Using my Canon EOS 7D with an EF-S10-22mm wide-angle lens allowed me to take in the entire scene. The lens helped me frame both the sign and the grand architecture of the museum neatly in one shot. The wide angle did a great job capturing the expanse of the area and the finer details of the building behind.

Amsterdam is a city known for its artistic heritage and intricate canal systems, and the Rijksmuseum is one of its crown jewels. This museum showcases some of the best works from artists like Rembrandt and Vermeer. If you're interested in history and art, it's definitely worth a visit.

I find that the sign, with its bold red and white letters, has a modern art feel that contrasts beautifully with the classic look of the Rijksmuseum. It's a perfect blend of old and new, which is what Amsterdam itself represents. I love how the night gives the whole scene a quiet dignity, allowing the colors and structures to stand out even more.
