Christ the Redeemer is a monumental statue of Jesus Christ located atop the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The statue, which is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone, stands at a height of 30 meters (98 feet) and has a wingspan of 28 meters (92 feet).
The statue was designed by the French sculptor Paul Landowski and constructed by the Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, with the help of the French engineer Albert Caquot. It was completed in 1931 and has since become one of the most iconic landmarks in Brazil and a symbol of Christianity around the world.
The statue is situated at an altitude of 710 meters (2,330 feet) and offers stunning panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro and its surroundings. Visitors can reach the statue by taking a scenic train ride through the Tijuca Forest, or by climbing a steep staircase to the summit of the Corcovado mountain.
