About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I captured this photo during my visit to Saint Petersburg, and it's of the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. This photo was taken during the day, which really shows off the colorful domes against a somewhat moody sky. The church sits right over the Griboyedov Canal, and you can actually see some boats passing by, which gives a nice touch of activity to the scene. I used my Canon EOS 60D with a EF-S17-55mm lens to shoot this. The wide-angle helped get both the vibrant church and some of the surrounding cityscape in the frame, making the shot feel more alive. A fun fact about this church is that it's built on the site where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated, which adds a layer of historical depth to its beauty. Walking around this area in Saint Petersburg, you get this incredible blend of history, color, and architecture all in one place. It's really one of those places where you can just stand and stare, taking in all the intricate details and thinking about the stories behind them.
