About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I shot this photo during my trip to Hallstatt, a charming village in Austria known for its stunning setting against the Dachstein Alps. The picturesque view of the pastel-colored houses lined up neatly by the lake gives a sense of tranquility and beauty that is hard to find elsewhere. Hallstatt is a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its salt production history dating back to prehistoric times. This perspective shows the village nestled between the lake and the lush green mountains. I used my Canon EOS 7D with a 17-55mm lens, which really helped capture the wide range of this scene, including the iconic spire of the church which peaks in the middle of the frame. The gentle movement of the lake with the boat passing by adds a dynamic touch to the serene landscape. When you’re there, it almost feels like stepping into a storybook, one where the mountains are ever-present guardians and the village life carries on as it has for centuries. This image is a reminder of that peaceful moment I experienced, surrounded by such breathtaking natural beauty.
