About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this shot of Marienplatz during my trip to Munich. It’s one of the main squares in the city, and I was really struck by the architecture of the Neues Rathaus. The building is pretty iconic, with its Gothic style and impressive clock tower. You can’t miss it if you’re visiting the city center. I used my Canon EOS 7D to capture this wide view, which helped bring out the details in the skyline and the bustling activity below. If you look closely, you can see the Frauenkirche in the background with its distinctive domes. The square itself is always lively, filled with both locals and tourists, and surrounded by shops and cafés. It's a place where history and modern life blend seamlessly. A fun fact about Marienplatz is that it’s been the heart of Munich since 1158, and it hosts a famous Christmas market every year. It’s interesting to see how much goes on in this square, from street performances to political events.
