About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this photo of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. It's one of my favorite spots in the city. The palace was originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, an event celebrating the completion of the Panama Canal. I love how its classical architecture contrasts with the calmness of the lagoon. For this shot, I wanted to capture the tranquility of the scene, so I set the ISO to 125 and increased the aperture. This allowed me to use a slower shutter speed to smooth the waves on the water. However, I didn't have a tripod, so I had to balance the settings carefully to keep the structure sharp. The lack of crowds and the natural light made it a perfect moment to shoot. I love how the grand columns and intricate details of the palace are mirrored in the lagoon, creating a peaceful reflection. It's a serene escape in the middle of a bustling city, and I'm glad I could capture that feeling here.
