About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I captured this view of the rooftops in Saint-Tropez during my travels through the French Riviera. It's a charming little place, and this photo shows off the vibrant terracotta tiles that are so typical here. The colorful clock tower in the foreground adds a nice touch and feels so quintessentially French.
Saint-Tropez has always been famous as a seaside resort, especially popular since the Brigitte Bardot era. Despite the yachts visible in the background, the town still manages to keep a relaxed, laid-back vibe, which I love. Here, you can see the coastline stretching beyond the town, with yachts dotting the water. The mountains in the distance complete the scene.
I shot this with my Canon EOS 40D, which has been my trusty companion on many trips. The zoom allowed me to pick out the details of the rooftops while still capturing the larger scene.
Walking around Saint-Tropez is like stepping back in time. The narrow streets and historical buildings take you to a different era. While it's tempting to just enjoy the sun and sea, it's these kinds of views that remind me why I love photography so much.
