About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I captured this photo while visiting the majestic Suleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. The view through the ornate entrance perfectly frames the mosque’s central dome, creating a sense of depth and symmetry. The intricate Arabic calligraphy above the doorway and the marble textures surrounding it add a timeless elegance to the scene.

The mosque, designed by the legendary Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, stands as a testament to the grandeur of Ottoman architecture. Built in the 16th century, it remains a prominent landmark overlooking the Golden Horn.

This photo was taken on January 2, 2025, with an iPhone 16 Pro. I used its wide-angle lens (6.765mm at f/1.8), which beautifully highlights the architectural details and the soft glow of the evening light. The GPS coordinates (41°1'0.04"N, 28°57'48.04"E) mark the heart of historic Istanbul. The quiet courtyard below offers a moment of reflection amidst the city's vibrant energy.
