About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this photo in Narok County, Kenya, during one of my safari trips. This baboon was sitting so calmly on a rock, and I couldn't resist capturing the moment. Being there, surrounded by the vast savannah, was really something. Watching these creatures go about their day felt almost like we were intruding on their world. The light was just right, casting soft shadows and highlighting the texture of the baboon's fur. Using my Canon EOS 7D with the EF100-400mm lens, I could really zoom in and get this intimate shot without disturbing the animal. I find baboons fascinating; they're so expressive with those eyes and the way they hold themselves. In Kenya, baboons are quite common, but each one has its own personality, which always makes them exciting subjects. As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, the entire scene turned almost golden, which added a bit of warmth to the photo. It’s these little moments that make photographing wildlife so rewarding.
