About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this series of shots during a trip to Nakuru County in Kenya. The area is well-known for its wildlife, and I stumbled upon these two birds perched on a thorny branch. They seemed to be having a little moment, which was endearing to watch. As I was using my Canon EOS 7D with a 100-400mm lens, I could capture this intimate exchange without getting too close and disturbing them.

Nakuru is a fascinating place, particularly for bird enthusiasts. The county hosts Lake Nakuru, loved for its abundance of flamingos attracted by the algae in the water. But what I found during this shoot was a more serene, tender scene happening away from the chaos.

The birds were so focused on each other that they barely noticed me. It's moments like these that make being out in nature so rewarding. The thorny branch they perched on made their interaction even more special, adding a sense of vulnerability to the scene.

This wasn’t a shot I planned. It was one of those fortunate times when you have your camera ready and something special unfolds right in front of you. It's a nice reminder of why patience pays off in wildlife photography.
