About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this photo during my trip to the ancient Mayan city of Coba, located in Quintana Roo, Mexico. What you're looking at is the Nohoch Mul Pyramid, one of the tallest Mayan pyramids in the region. Standing at over 130 feet, it's a pretty impressive sight. Visitors often climb to the top for an amazing view, but it's quite a workout, especially under the hot Mexican sun. The city of Coba itself is fascinating, with a network of ancient roads known as sacbeob connecting different areas. Using my Canon EOS 7D Mark II with a wide-angle lens allowed me to capture the entire pyramid and the lush surroundings, highlighting the dense jungle that encircles this historical site. Coba has a special charm; it's less crowded compared to other sites like Tulum and Chichen Itza, giving you a more personal experience with history. It's amazing to think about how people used to live and work here thousands of years ago, and being in a spot like this really makes that history come alive.
