About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this shot during my visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. This is the entrance to one of the gas chambers, marked deceptively with the word 'Brausebad', which translates to 'shower'. It was a chilling moment to stand here, knowing the tragic history associated with this place. Dachau was one of the first Nazi concentration camps in Germany, established in 1933. It became a model for subsequent camps and a central training ground for SS guards. This photo was taken with my Canon EOS 7D and a wide-angle lens, which allowed me to capture the narrow entry and part of the inner chamber. Being here was quite moving. The atmosphere is heavy, and the intact historical structures speak volumes. I wanted to convey the somber feeling of this place through this image. It's incredible how something so visually simple can carry such weight in its history and story.
