About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I captured this mesmerizing scene titled 'Dancing Shadow, Gumbet-Bodrum,' during one of my travels to Bodrum. The photo's focal point is the ancient stone windmill bathed in the warm golden hues of the setting sun. Its rugged texture stands out prominently against the twilight sky, which transitions smoothly from amber near the horizon to a deeper blue as it stretches upward. Bodrum, well-known for its rich historical background, adds layers of intrigue to this photograph. While this windmill’s origins might not be widely documented, Bodrum itself is a land steeped in history, previously known as Halicarnassus in ancient times. I positioned myself at an angle that captures the gentle slopes leading down to the shimmering lights of the town below, with the Aegean Sea subtly reflecting the vibrant glow. The landscape glows under the soft twilight with the distant mountains silhouetted against the dusk sky, creating a balanced composition that draws the viewer's eyes across the frame. This photograph was taken with a long exposure to enhance the city lights' vibrant twinkle, which contrasts elegantly with the rustic, timeless windmill.
