About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I snapped this photo on a visit to Amsterdam, a city that's always full of charm. These houses are on the canal, and they have this leaning and quirky charm that almost makes them look like they're dancing. It's one of those classic views you expect in Amsterdam. I used my Canon EOS 7D with a 17-55mm lens. The wide angle allowed me to capture this entire row in one frame. These buildings are quite famous locally, thanks to their unique architecture. Amsterdam is filled with these narrow, tall houses, and they have a rich history. The canals were built in the 17th century, and the houses have seen a lot of changes since then. The boat on the canal adds that little extra bit of Dutch flair, making the scene really lively. I particularly love how the tree breaks up the brickwork, adding a splash of green to the scene. It was a typical overcast day, common for this part of the world, but the lighting worked out nicely.
