About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I captured this photo during my trip to Narok County, Kenya. It features a couple of hartebeests standing calmly in the grassy savanna. The vast, open land of Kenya is such a unique place, and the wildlife here is just incredible. In the background, you can spot some elephants making their way across the plains, which is always a wonderful sight.
I used my Canon EOS 7D with a 100-400mm lens, which helped me get close enough to these beautiful creatures without disturbing them. Being able to witness hartebeests in their natural habitat is something special. They have these distinctive, curved horns and a beautiful reddish-brown coat that just stands out against the green and brown tones of the landscape.
This area of Kenya is part of the Great Rift Valley, a spot that's not only rich in wildlife but also in history and culture. It’s amazing how you can be there in the moment, watching these animals, knowing that you're also stepping back in time in such a historic region. Every trip here gives me so many stories and sights to remember.
