About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this shot inside the Church on Spilt Blood in St. Petersburg, Russia. The church itself is pretty amazing, filled with colorful mosaics and intricate designs. This particular angle showcases the stunning chandelier and the beautiful dome above. These mosaics depict biblical scenes and are a true feast for the eyes. Shooting inside with my Canon EOS 7D was a fun challenge. Given the low light, capturing the vibrant colors and fine details required a steady hand. The Church on Spilt Blood is a historic landmark, built on the site where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated. It’s a prime example of Russian Revival architecture and visiting was like stepping back in time. Every inch, from the floor to the ceiling, is covered in intricate art, making it a photographer's dream. If you ever find yourself in St. Petersburg, this place is a must-see.
