About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I photographed this classic Lisbon tram during one of my trips to Portugal. This was at the Portas Do Sol, a popular spot thanks to its incredible views and charming atmosphere. Lisbon's tram 28 is quite famous, not just for its bright yellow color but also because it winds through some of the city's most picturesque neighborhoods. The tram is an icon of the city, offering a unique way to see Lisbon's hills and historic streets.
This spot had so much character. The tram itself is framed by the beautiful old buildings that line the streets, including the vibrant red facade that really catches the eye. I remember standing there, feeling the warm sun and hearing the gentle clatter of the tram tracks beneath my feet. Using my SONY DSC-R1 helped capture the details of the scene, from the tram's retro design to the quaint balconies of the buildings.
Lisbon has a way of blending the old with the new in a seamless way. The Portas Do Sol area is a great example of this. Besides the famous trams, there's a fantastic viewpoint here where you can see over the Alfama district. You might even catch some local street musicians adding a soundtrack to the moment. It's little bits like these that make Lisbon such a memorable place to photograph.
