About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I captured this photo of the Vasco da Gama Shopping Center in Lisbon, Portugal during my trip there. It's located right in the modern part of the city, in the Parque das Nações, which was actually the site of Expo '98. This area is known for its futuristic architecture and is a hub for both locals and tourists. What caught my eye was the unique design of the shopping center itself; the arched glass roof really stands out against the evening sky. I used my Sony DSC-R1 camera for this shot, which helped me to capture the sharp contrasts and detail in the architecture without any distortion. There's a great energy around this place, with people streaming in and out, and the speed of the traffic passing by creates a lively atmosphere. It's fascinating how the old meets the new in Lisbon, and this shopping center is a perfect example of that blend. Fun fact: Vasco da Gama was a famous Portuguese explorer, and this whole area celebrates the age of discoveries.
