About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this photo in Sankt-Peterburg, Russia, during a late afternoon walk. The shot features two people in historic costumes, relaxing on a bench in front of the stunning Winter Palace. This iconic building, part of the Hermitage Museum, has such a rich history, having been the official residence of the Russian monarchs. Using my Canon EOS 7D, I captured this moment under the gently swaying trees, which frame the image nicely. The contrast between the vibrant green of the trees and the pale blue of the palace is really striking. It's like stepping back in time, seeing them in these costumes against such a beautiful backdrop. The city itself is filled with historic charm, and moments like these are what make Sankt-Peterburg feel like a living museum. Just standing there, it felt like the past was blending into the present, right before my eyes. It was one of those moments that make photography feel so rewarding.
