About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this photo during my trip to Wat Pho in Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, Thailand. This place is famous for the giant Reclining Buddha statue, which measures an astonishing 46 meters in length and 15 meters high. When I stood there with my Canon EOS 7D and EF-S17-55mm lens, I wanted to capture the incredible detail of the Buddha's head and the intricate patterns on the ceiling and walls.
What strikes me about this angle is how it highlights the serene expression of the Buddha's face and the intricate, golden curls of the hair. It was a bit challenging to frame it all in with the lens I had, but I think it captures the moment well. Wat Pho is one of Bangkok's oldest temples, and beyond its impressive size, it's known for housing the country's largest collection of Buddha images.
The atmosphere inside the temple is genuinely peaceful, a stark contrast to the bustling streets outside. Locals and tourists alike visit here not just to see the statue but to soak in the quiet and reverence of the place. I remember the soft whispers of people around, the faint scent of incense in the air, and the subtle play of light within the temple adding to a sense of calm.
If you ever find yourself in Bangkok, Wat Pho is a must-see. Not just for its architectural beauty but also for the experience it offers. It's easy to spend hours here, exploring both the temple grounds and the surrounding area.
