About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this shot while visiting Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, or as many know it, Bangkok, Thailand. The location is famous for its incredible temples, and this one features the iconic Yaksha statues. These mythical giants are protectors, and they stand proudly at the entrance to many Thai temples. I was using my Canon EOS 7D with the EF-S17-55mm lens, which gave me the chance to capture both the statues and the intricate architecture of the building behind them. The sky was clear, letting the vivid colors of the Yakshas pop against it.

The Yakshas are more than just statues; they have a deep cultural significance in Thai mythology. They are often seen as guardians against bad spirits. While wandering around, you can't help but admire the craftsmanship in each detail, from the colors to the elaborate patterns.

This area was bustling with people, some tourists fascinated by these giant figures, others locals who come to pay their respects. Watching them, I felt a sense of peace amidst the city's busy life. It’s amazing how these spaces offer a moment of quiet reflection.

If you ever find yourself in Bangkok, make sure to explore beyond the typical tourist spots. There’s so much to see and learn. Every visit reveals something new, whether in the form of art, history, or just the simple warmth of the people passing by with their colorful umbrellas.
