About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I snapped this photo during my trip to Narok County in Kenya. This area is famous for its wildlife, and the wildebeest are always a fascinating subject. The shot shows a group of these majestic creatures gathered closely together. Their rough coats and sturdy horns tell the story of their lives in the wild. I used my Canon EOS 7D with an EF100-400mm lens to capture the details from a safe distance. This lens allowed me to zoom in on the herd without disturbing them, which is crucial when photographing wildlife. It’s interesting to note how the wildebeest are an essential part of the great migration, a key event in the Serengeti ecosystem where millions of animals move across the plains. Narok County is right on the edge of this incredible migration route. It’s a place with expansive savannas and striking landmarks like the Maasai Mara, a reserve known around the world. Every visit brings something different to see and photograph, but the wildebeest always stand out. Their movements and interactions provide a unique glimpse into their world. I remember feeling a sense of tranquility while watching them, yet also a respect for the unpredictability of nature. This image brings back those memories every time I look at it.
