About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this shot during my trip to Alaska, a place that always astounds me with its natural beauty. The photo captures a stunning glacier, with huge ice chunks drifting in the water. The frosty blue hues and rugged textures are something I never get tired of looking at. This is set in the icy waters near Juneau. It's a place where you truly feel the power and tranquility of nature at the same time.
To get this shot, I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a EF100-400mm lens. The telephoto compression really brings out the layers in the glacier and the stark contrast against the dark water. As you look at the picture, you might even spot a couple of seals lounging on the floating ice. They seem so at home here, undisturbed by the chilly breeze or the faint crackling sounds of ice.
Alaska’s glaciers are always moving, slow but constant, and they tell the story of Earth's ancient past. This region is fascinating because it's one of those places where you can visibly see the effect of climate change. Despite the cold and the remote location, it’s an incredibly peaceful scene, and I loved being able to capture a slice of that serenity to share with others.
