About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I captured this photo of a baby giraffe during my trip to Nakuru County in Kenya. It was such a peaceful scene, seeing this young giraffe standing amidst the greenery. Nakuru is known for its diverse wildlife, and getting a glimpse of this little one was a real treat. With the sun shining down, the setting was just perfect for a shot.
I used my Canon EOS 7D paired with an EF100-400mm lens for this picture. The combination allowed me to get clear, detailed shots from a good distance without disturbing the animal. I love how the background fades gently, highlighting the giraffe's unique patterns and those curious eyes peering through the branches.
Kenya, particularly around Nakuru, offers an amazing view into the lives of various animals. This area is famous for Lake Nakuru, where you can often spot flamingos turning the shores pink. But on this day, it was the giraffes that caught my attention. Watching them move gracefully, even as young as this one, is always a memorable experience.
It's these little moments of quiet observation that make photographing wildlife so rewarding. Each animal has its own character and capturing a snapshot of their world is always a privilege. This photo is a favorite of mine, reminding me of the gentle beauty and wonder found in nature. If you ever get the chance to visit, I highly recommend it.
