About This PhotoThe Story Behind

I took this photo at the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, Japan. It's one of my favorite spots because of the endless rows of vibrant red torii gates. There are about 10,000 of these gates here, each donated by a business or individual as an offering. Walking through them feels almost like a journey through a glowing tunnel. Every gate has inscriptions on them, which include the donor's name and the year of donation. It's fascinating to think about the tradition and respect for this shrine that has spanned years. This perspective captures the lined-up gates leading uphill, showing the scale and beauty of this place. I used a wide-angle lens to really embrace the depth and repetition, and I think it highlights the serene experience of walking through this sacred pathway.
