About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this photo at Lake Naivasha in Narok County, Kenya. This spot is quite a haven for birdlife, and I was lucky enough to capture this flock of pelicans early in the morning. Naivasha is known for its beautiful landscapes and diverse wildlife, making it a favorite among nature lovers.
I used my Canon EOS 7D paired with the EF100-400mm lens, which helped me get close enough to these pelicans without disturbing them. The telephoto lens allowed me to capture the group in detail while standing at a respectful distance. It's fascinating to see how they gather by the water, seemingly oblivious to my presence.
This area is part of Kenya's Great Rift Valley, which is one of the country's most captivating regions. The acacia trees in the foreground frame the image nicely, adding a sense of depth without taking attention away from the birds. It was a bit of a challenge to shoot in this lighting condition, as the morning sun can be unpredictable, but I think it worked out well.
There’s something almost serene about watching these birds, reminding me of why I love photographing in places like this. Each moment spent here was peaceful and rewarding, capturing the harmony of nature at its best.
