About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I took this shot of a marabou stork during my trip to Narok County in Kenya. The area is well-known for its rich wildlife and stunning landscapes. Marabou storks are quite fascinating and a bit unusual-looking, which makes them interesting subjects to photograph. I used my Canon EOS 7D with a 100-400mm lens to get a clear view of this bird from a safe distance. It allowed me to capture the intricate details of its plumage and its strong, distinctive beak against the backdrop of the savannah. This stork was just standing there, seemingly indifferent to the world around it, which gave me a nice opportunity to focus and take my time with the shot. The marabou is often referred to as the 'undertaker bird' because of its cloak-like wings and long, thin legs. They play an important role in the ecosystem, scavenging and helping to keep the environment clean. Being able to photograph wildlife in their natural habitat is always a rewarding experience for me, especially in a place as diverse as Kenya.
