About This PhotoThe Story Behind
I shot this photo during my trip to Gent, Belgium. It's a beautiful city, rich with history and stunning architecture. This image captures the calm waters of the canal reflecting the historic buildings lined along the edge. I love how the evening lights softly illuminate the classic facades and the sky adds to the serene ambiance.
What you see here are some of Gent's iconic gabled buildings. These are typical of Flemish architecture, showcasing the city’s rich past. I wanted to capture the reflections because they add an extra layer of beauty, almost like a painting. The surrounding quietness and the gentle ripples in the water make it one of my favorite shots from that trip.
For this shot, I used my Canon EOS 7D, with a wide-angle EF-S10-22mm lens. The wide-angle was perfect for capturing both the buildings and their reflections in the canal. It's a view that really shows off the charm and stillness of Gent in the twilight. Walking along these canals reminded me of how even busy cities can feel peaceful and introspective now and then.
