About This PhotoThe Story Behind
This is a shot from my trip to Ica, Peru, where I stumbled upon this unique red beach. The striking color comes from the erosion of pink granodiorite, which is a type of igneous rock. It's not something you see every day, and the contrast with the turquoise waves really caught my eye. I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with an EF24-105mm lens to capture the scene, which allowed me to get a wide shot of the shoreline. One thing that I love about this place is how the vivid colors stand out, even more in person. It’s part of the Paracas National Reserve, and being there feels like stepping into another world. The reserve itself is massive and offers a ton of different landscapes, but this beach was definitely a highlight for me. I tried to capture the natural beauty and tranquility here, giving a sense of the wide-open space. I hope when you look at this photo you feel a bit of the peacefulness that I felt standing there.
