Locals call it "Winikunka," and English speaking tourists call it "Rainbow Mountain," whereas it's the original name in Spanish is "Montaña de Siete Colores." This mountain that is a part of the Peru Andes mountains, especially in the to-do list of tourists coming to Cusco with 2 hours of drive proximity. It offers a wonderful day trip. Although I made it in late July, the dramatic color palette becomes even more apparent in August as the snow melts.

You need to pass a massive physical endurance test to reach this peak because there's not enough oxygen to draw your lungs from you being in 5000 meters during the climb! I have always been very confident in my physical endurance, and I have been shocked. I needed to stop and breathe for a 2 minute for every ten steps. I couldn't even take these ten steps to 20, no matter how hard I tried. I needed to rest my lungs, breathing in blood sweat at each stop. I was very comfortable to see that the scores of tourists who came with me were in the same condition as me. And most people take drugs to ease their breathing. About 2 hours walk from the location of the tour buses, and 1,5 km later, I reached this peak. If you look carefully at the picture, you can see the people walking below. Please pay attention to the sign in the photo. You will see that the altitude is 5036 meters, which is equivalent to the peak of the Ararat Mountain.

I felt so painful on my way out and decided to land on the horse, accompanied by a local guide, on my way back. Those who are curious about my guide and my ride horse can look at this photo. The trip to Mount Rainbow was a unique experience for me. I recommend to those who go to Peru.
